People grow old when they stop believing in miracles, when they forget fairy tales, when colored dreams become black and white. I want to color your dreams. I invite you into a fairy tale.

In old fairytales they say: “once upon a time…”. My fairy tale begins like this “once upon a realm…”. And afterward each has their own development, in their own realm. A realm of Good and Evil, a realm of Love and Deceit, of Dream and Reality. Everyone chooses their kingdom, builds a castle, gets dressed for the ball and puts on armor for the duel. Each Knight defeats his Dragon and for each Princess appears a prince on a white horse, or, even in a black limousine… It all depends on what are you dreaming about…

Most of my art works are similar to a visual reflection of a folk song or an old legend – joy and sorrow, hopes and regrets of my people. Through my colors I sing ancient songs to our children and grandchildren. I want to tell legends about Perun, Veles, Svarog, and I want them to know – until the Sun and the Moon are shining high in the skies, the old song will stay alive…

Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) – it’s a fairytale about a beautiful girl of snow, who came to life, as a last hope of the desolate people. It’s a symbol of soul purity, it’s a dream come true, it’s a priceless gift of life, which can melt like snow, if you don’t know how to keep it... White snow is like a clean sheet of paper, on which somebody will write their own new fairytale...

Also, in our forests there were the maids of the forest – Mavki. It is also said that the souls of drowned innocent maidens changed into Mermaids. Even now we have the custom of fortune-telling with “wreaths”. It’s when girls let float on the rivers flower-wreaths often lit with candles. Will it float, or will it drown; will the candle burn, or will it die out…
